Net advertising revenue in Norwegian media
Data on net advertising revenue in Norwegian media are collected by the Institute for Advertising and Media Statistics (IRM). IRM is an independent and self-financed institute based in Sweden, which collects, processes, analyses and publishes data on Nordic advertising and media markets.

The statistics are based on reports from media companies and trade organisations and document advertisers' actual spending in different media, net of discounts. IRM's original categories are somewhat altered to make comparison between media channels more easy.

Internet advertising revenue includes display advertising in online newspapers and other web sites, classified ads, search ads, online directories, web-TV (from 2013) and social media (from 2015). Advertising on mobile platforms is included under Internet from 2012. Revenue on search ads is estimated in collaboration with Google. Details concerning revenue from different types of advertising on Internet can be found in IRM's reports.

IRM publishes quarterly and annual reports on the advertising market in Norway as well as other Nordic countries. More information can be found on IRM's website.

Estimates for advertising revenue in social media are included from 2015 onward.

The data basis for radio and free newspapers is more comprehensive in 2014 and 2015 than before, and comparisons with previous years must be made with caution.

In 2014 all IRM data from 2005 onward has been revised and updated.

Number of free papers included in the statitics increased in 2013.

Some of the original media categories used by IRM are somewhat altered by Medianorway to ease comparison between different media.

Online newspapers are included in the Internet category.
